Dell Precision 5520 - Intel Core i7 Quadro M1200 Workstation Laptop

Professional workstation features. More accessible than ever.

Not every engineer, designer or developer needs the latest high-end workstation. For people working with established professional software, technical drawings and everyday productivity applications, an older workstation with generous memory and dedicated graphics can still offer practical value.

The Dell Precision 5520 is a good example.

Featuring an Intel Core i7-6820HQ processor, 32GB DDR4 memory and NVIDIA Quadro M1200 graphics with 4GB dedicated GDDR5 video memory, it combines business-focused hardware in Dell's distinctive thin-bezel workstation design.

Dedicated NVIDIA graphics for technical work

The Quadro M1200 distinguishes this Precision from conventional business laptops that rely exclusively on integrated graphics.

Its 4GB dedicated video memory can support compatible CAD, design and GPU-accelerated applications, particularly for 2D drafting, entry-level 3D modelling and established professional software.

For engineering students learning CAD or professionals working with less demanding technical projects, the dedicated GPU is a useful feature.

However, the M1200 is an earlier-generation Quadro processor. Users handling complex modern rendering, demanding simulations or large 3D scenes should consider a newer RTX-equipped workstation.

32GB RAM already installed

While many older refurbished laptops ship with 8GB or 16GB memory, this Precision 5520 includes a full 32GB DDR4 configuration.

That is the maximum officially supported memory capacity for the model.

The additional RAM provides useful room for multitasking, development environments, spreadsheets and working with multiple applications simultaneously.

The Intel Core i7-6820HQ offers four cores and eight threads, with clock speeds reaching up to 3.6GHz. Paired with the included 512GB SSD, it provides a practical platform for lighter professional workloads and everyday computing.

A more refined workstation experience

The Precision 5520 combines professional hardware with Dell's narrow-bezel InfinityEdge design.

Its 15.6-inch Full HD IPS display offers a clear 1920 × 1080 workspace for documents, technical drawings and software interfaces.

A carbon-fibre palm rest and backlit keyboard add to the premium business-laptop experience.

For desk-based productivity, Thunderbolt 3, USB-A, HDMI and SD card connectivity support compatible peripherals and external displays.

Refurbished with realistic expectations

This particular Precision 5520 reports approximately 93% battery health, a positive battery diagnostic reading. Actual runtime will depend on battery age, workload and display settings.

A Dell 90W USB-C adapter is supplied. Dell originally specified a 130W adapter for this workstation, so higher-power operation should be checked before relying on the supplied charger for intensive workloads.

The 6th Generation Intel processor is not officially supported for Windows 11. Buyers should confirm the installed operating system and application requirements before purchasing.

At Flikgear, we believe older refurbished hardware should be sold with clear specifications and realistic expectations, rather than exaggerated performance claims.

Your purchase includes a laptop bag, wireless mouse and 3-month Flikgear warranty, with Singapore-based support.

Workstation hardware at refurbished value

For students, professionals and budget-conscious buyers who need a capable laptop for established CAD applications, lighter creative work or general productivity, the Dell Precision 5520 offers a practical combination of dedicated NVIDIA graphics, generous memory and premium business design.

Tested. Trusted. Yours for less.
