Why exact-unit photos matter
Two laptops with the same model number and specifications may have very different cosmetic histories.
One may have spent three years in a docking station and look almost new. Another may have travelled between client meetings every day and show more wear.
Both can still work perfectly.
The important thing is that the buyer can see the difference and decide whether the condition matches the price.
2. We explain the condition clearly
Terms such as “good”, “excellent” and “like new” are useful only when the seller explains what they mean.
Flikgear uses a consistent grading approach:

For a student or small-business owner working within a budget, choosing a fully functional Good or Fair unit can free up money for more RAM, larger storage or a stronger processor.
The key is disclosure.
You should receive the condition you agreed to pay for - not a surprise when the box arrives.
3. We show the specifications that actually matter
“I7 laptop, 16GB, very fast” is not a complete description.
A proper listing should identify:
- Full laptop model
- Complete processor name
- RAM
- Storage type and capacity
- Screen size and resolution
- Graphics hardware
- Operating system
- Touchscreen, where applicable
- Fingerprint reader or other features
- Battery information
- Charger and included accessories
The processor generation matters because a newer Core i5 can be faster and better supported than a much older Core i7.
The display resolution matters because two laptops with the same screen size can provide very different viewing experiences.
The graphics hardware matters because integrated graphics and a dedicated workstation GPU are not designed for the same workloads.

4. Every laptop goes through a structured inspection
A refurbished laptop should be tested beyond whether it powers on.
Flikgear’s 45-step inspection covers six broad areas:

5. Battery information is treated as useful information
Battery condition is one of the biggest uncertainties when buying a used laptop.
Phrases such as “battery okay” or “holds charge” do not help a buyer understand whether a laptop suits full-day campus use, occasional meetings or permanent desk use.

A laptop with cosmetic marks should normally cost less than an equivalent unit in cleaner condition.
