Dell Precision 5510 - Intel Core i7 Quadro Workstation Laptop

A professional workstation without the oversized design.

Workstations have traditionally been associated with heavy machines, bulky construction and expensive specifications.

The Dell Precision 5510 offers a different approach.

It combines the professional hardware of Dell's Precision series with a refined narrow-bezel display, carbon-fibre palm rest and premium metal construction.

For students, developers and professionals who need dedicated graphics for lighter technical applications, it presents an interesting alternative to conventional office laptops.

Intel Core i7 processing for established workflows

At its heart is an Intel Core i7-6820HQ, a 6th Generation H-series processor with four cores and eight threads.

Combined with 16GB DDR4 memory and a 512GB SSD, this configuration provides a practical foundation for everyday business computing, spreadsheets, programming, academic projects and established professional applications.

While newer processors offer considerably greater performance and efficiency, the i7-6820HQ can still serve less demanding workflows where software compatibility permits.

Dedicated Quadro graphics for technical applications

One of the Precision 5510's defining features is its NVIDIA Quadro M1000M GPU with 2GB GDDR5 dedicated graphics memory.

Unlike ordinary business laptops relying exclusively on integrated graphics, this Precision provides separate graphics hardware for compatible professional software.

It's particularly relevant for engineering students learning AutoCAD, professionals reviewing 2D technical drawings and users handling basic visualisation or design projects.

The M1000M is an older-generation GPU. For complex modern 3D modelling, demanding rendering or newer GPU-intensive software, a workstation with NVIDIA RTX graphics would be a more appropriate investment.

A premium working experience

The Precision 5510 features a 15.6-inch Full HD IPS display with 1920 × 1080 resolution.

Its InfinityEdge narrow-bezel construction makes the laptop feel more contemporary than many traditional mobile workstations.

The carbon-fibre palm rest provides a comfortable working surface, while the backlit keyboard is useful for long writing, coding and productivity sessions.

Thunderbolt 3, USB-A, HDMI and an SD card reader offer practical connections for compatible monitors, storage devices and peripherals.

Hardware designed with expansion in mind

The Precision 5510 includes two DDR4 SO-DIMM slots, with Dell documenting support for up to 32GB RAM.

Unlike laptops with fully soldered memory, this design allows compatible memory modules to be replaced.

Its storage architecture also supports replaceable SSD hardware, although the exact upgrade possibilities depend on the internal battery and drive configuration.

Refurbished value, with realistic expectations

The Dell Precision 5510 is most attractive to buyers seeking an affordable workstation for lighter graphics and productivity tasks.

This unit's battery diagnostic reports one recorded cycle, but its battery-health value requires verification before purchase.

The 6th Generation Intel processor is not officially supported for Windows 11. Operating system support and software requirements should be checked carefully, particularly for professional applications.

At Flikgear, we believe buyers deserve real product photographs, transparent specifications and clear condition information rather than exaggerated claims.

The laptop includes a complimentary bag and wireless mouse. Charger and warranty details for this unit must be confirmed before the listing is finalised.

For buyers who value a premium Dell Precision design, 16GB RAM and dedicated Quadro graphics without needing a modern high-end workstation, the Precision 5510 offers an accessible starting point.
